When this family booked this photoshoot with me, I was HONOURED! We previously did a session for them at Lake Minnewanka, and let me tell you, when a client rebooks again, it is such an honour for the photographer (well at least that's the case for me).
We chose Lake Louise as the location for this photoshoot, and it was a DREAM!
Lake Louise, like many other "famous" lakes in the Banff National Park, can get VERY busy. This is especially the case during the summer months, which are are busiest months here because of the influx of tourists.
So what did we do to ensure the best possible conditions for this summer family photoshoot at Lake Louise, and to avoid most of the tourists to make sure we had enough space and privacy to capture some beautiful, candid, and intimate moments? -> WE ARRIVED AN HOUR BEFORE SUNSET <-
As much as I encourage my clients to do their sessions here an hour before sunset, I am also a mom who realizes that this simply is not always possible when little people are involved. However, the later the better is the rule I like to go by to avoid the crowds, to get better lighting, and to ensure there is parking available for your session -yes, there is usually no parking left at Lake Louise during the day :(
Despite the craziness that this lake can be, it truly is one of the top spots for photos in Banff National Park. As well, this lake is very accessible as it is only a 5 minute walk from the parking lot so no hiking or shuttling required which makes it perfect for family sessions (unless you choose to book a shuttle if you don't want to risk not being able to get parking). If you're looking for one of the most ICONIC spots for your photos, Lake Louise might be the best choice for you!
