When we think about elopements, we think about raw, real moments—just two people, completely in love, choosing to say “I do” in a place that feels like them. Jessie and Emmett’s Summer Lake Minnewanka Elopement was exactly that.
Nestled in the heart of Banff National Park, surrounded by towering mountain peaks and the stillness of the lake, Jessie and Emmett exchanged their vows in one of the most breathtaking settings imaginable. The mountains weren’t just a backdrop—they were an important part of their story. Both lovers of the outdoors, it made perfect sense that they’d choose this quiet corner of the Rockies for such a meaningful moment.
It was summer in Banff, and the skies held off the rain just long enough for magic to unfold. We had the entire area to ourselves, turning their ceremony into a peaceful, private experience.
Robin from Banff Lake Louise Weddings officiated the ceremony beautifully, adding just the right touch of warmth and joy. It was simple, heartfelt, and everything a wedding should be.

Mike and I had the honour of not only capturing this moment but also being their witnesses. Mike filmed their elopement, preserving every glance and vow on video, while I documented it through stills—moments frozen in time. There’s something incredibly special about being a part of such an intimate celebration, and we’re always grateful when couples trust us with their story.
After their vows and a stunning portrait session around the lake, Jessie and Emmett returned home to Ontario. In August, they gathered with their friends and family for a reception where they shared the photos and video from their day in Banff—bringing the mountains to everyone who couldn’t be there.

If you’ve ever dreamed of saying your vows with the mountains as your witness, know that it’s possible. It’s real. And it can be just as meaningful—if not more—than a traditional wedding day. Jessie and Emmett’s elopement is proof of that. ~Mike and Naty
